Yes you heard right, the legendary Jerry Dammers from The
Specials is our guest DJ at the Jamaican SKA night on Friday 29th
November. He’ll be supported by emerging Glasgow ska band The Mitre 5s. Jerry
has many feathers to his bow. He is responsible for the two tone British ska
although these days (and on Friday night) he concentrates on the real rootsy
ska music from Jamaica.
He’s also the man who penned “Free Nelson Mandela” as in
“Free-ee-ee Nelson Mandela”, an unforgettable tribute to someone who features
on most people’s ‘heroes list’ J
Anyway, our excitement is making us ramble.
The ticket allocation is limited. If you’ve never been to
the African Caribbean Centre we’re a comparatively intimate venue on the edge
of the Merchant City. Intimate means you’ll get up close to the man himself.
But it also means you have to be quick to get your tickets. We’ve tried to keep
it as affordable as possible for everyone but that could also mean tickets go
fast.
So, you can buy your tickets at The Guitar Store on Argyle
Street or Tickets Scotland also on Argyle Street in Glasgow. Or you can follow
this Eventbrite link and buy online. Choosing any of these options will cost
you just 8 pounds.
We’re keeping back 30 tickets for selling on the door on the
night and they will be ten pounds each.
Any questions just email Anne or Graham on accglasgow@gmail.com or call Graham on
