Sat 26th May - Liberation is the theme for this Open Mic night



Following hot on the heels of the mega successful open mic nights on St Andrew's Day last year and Burns' Night this year, we present to you our Open Mic Night to mark Africa Day the previous day and African Liberation Week. So we invite you to come and watch and we invite those who can perform to come and do their thing. All we ask is that your poem, song or performance has a connection to 'liberation'.

Saturday 26th May from 7.30pm
We are licensed till 2am but under 18s welcome till 11pm

Fri 11th May - Bob Marley Never Died Reggae Night

So many people are currently heading to the movies to see M A R L E Y, the film of his life directed by Glaswegian film director Kevin MacDonald. Here at the African Caribbean Centre we love Bob Marley and to us he never died. So, on Friday 11th May, with the help of UR Kreativity and the sensational sounds of Bass Warrior, the ACC will host a tribute to the great man. For the best in reggae and the absolute best in Marley, get yourself down here from 9pm to 2am. Ticket prices are £8 including a plate of traditional food from Africa and the Caribbean. Or you can pay £5 entry and buy the food once you're in, it's up to you. Students get in for £3 (not inc food), we have reasonable bar prices and great staff particularly Anne (who just happens to be writing this) :-)

Sat 5th May - Scotland's Reggae Lion will pounce in May!

This Saturday 5th May we have a special night of musikal entertainment not to be missed! Rudy Alba returns to the ACC for a one off Glasgow show.Make no mistake this Scottish Reggae artist is repping the country.With a new album in the pipeline for summer release featuring the cream of UK reggae musicians and producers including Supatech records Junior P,Mafia n Fluxy mixes and tunes featuring Reggae legend AJ Franklin and riddims from The Ruffcut band the UKs top Reggae band Rudy is ready to nice up the place.On the decks is Gideon sounds Glasgows newest roots sound with a guest appearance from Real reggae music sound it is sure to be a night of musical niceness.Support the ACC,support Reggae, thanks. Fri 4th May - Afrocentric Reloaded returns for a second month

Everything you could want from DJ Tchico as he plays RnB and Naija Pop to Funkyhouse and Hip Hop. And this month Lega Ntertainment brings you Ethiopian Music specials to celebrate Ethiopian Independence Day! And if you're peckish, hot suya (spicy beef), a traditional dish from Nigeria will be adding a bit of spice to the night. Last month the club was packed out, this month we expect to have to open the chillout zone downstairs. It's gonna be busy!

Sat 28th April - South African House and Kwaito reaches Glasgow this Saturday

This is one for all the South African House / Kwaito fans in Scotland who've been waiting a while for DJ Rastalocks to pull this one off. And now he has. It's on Saturday 28th April at the African Caribbean Centre and we're delighted to announce that DJ Flexx will be doing his thing! Entry by donation of £5 before 11pm and £6 thereafter. We're on till 2am so get yourself down here and get involved in the House/Kwaito vs Dancehall play off!
